Hike to Lakka – via all the bays

There are many ways to get to Lakka.  This is one of the longest ones taking in all the beaches on the way and coming in via the cliffs above the entrance to Lakka bay.  It requires some more clambering around on rocks on Arkoudaki beach which is the next one up from Orkos.  A nice walk with an amazing view as you enter Lakka from the top.  You can even take in swims in both Orkos and Arkoudaki on the way.

Time 60-90 minutes
Distance  2.5km
Difficulty Hard – many paths up and down to the beaches on the way and some clambering over rocks needed on Arkoudaki beach.  Trainers needed
Easy to get lost? Many places to get lost.  Take a map or phone / GPS

Route overview

  1. Descend into Orkos beach (direct or the long routes as you prefer)
  2. Leave Orkos beach by taking the path just to the right of the buildings.  This climbs up the valley.  (If you keep left you come out at the main road which is an alternative route in and out of Orkos).  We keep right and go along the top of the olive groves which comes out on a small road in Lergozatika.
  3. Turn right down this small road, and on the left around 100m further on you find the path down to Arkoudaki beach
  4. From Arkoudaki beach, scramble over the rocks at the north end of the beach until you find at the north end a small path which climbs and follows the edge of the cliffs
  5. Follow this path, it takes you along the cliffs and to the entrance of Lakka bay.  It turns into a larger track which you continue to follow to enter Lakka down from the north.
